External Reference Audit dialog box

Use this dialog box to select the options to include in an external reference filesDrawing files often reference other files, including other drawings, as well as plot styles, images, standards, and font files associated with the drawing. Those references, or dependencies, are simply an embedded record of the path to the referenced objects or files. report for files in the selected project folder.

Missing Reference Files

Mark this checkbox to display external reference files that are missing for the files in the selected folder. This option also checks for missing external reference files for the external reference files that are found, and so on, until all files are checked.

Non-Standard Drawing and Image Reference File Paths

Mark this checkbox to select your company’s standard path type so that you can locate and display other types of paths that are being used. For example, if your company uses relative paths, select Relative from the Standard Path Type drop-down list. The report will display all valid external references that are not of the selected type, so in this case, it will display all valid Pathless and Absolute paths. You can then change them to use relative paths.

Standard Path Type

Select your company’s standard path type so that you can locate other types of paths that are being used, as explained above.

References to Files Outside of a Project Folder

Mark this checkbox to list externally referenced files that are outside of the project folders.

Include Font and Support File References

Mark this checkbox to display font and printer configuration files in the report.

Click to open the Audit External References activity center to create and view the external reference file report.

 

To access this dialog box

Select a project folder, then click Utilities > External Reference Audit from the Folder Tasks panel of the Project Files activity center.
