Industry Foundation Class (IFC) Support

The International Alliance for Interoperability (http://www.iai-international.org) has defined Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) which are open, non-proprietary specifications for object-based definitions of common AECO concepts. IFCs allow for high-fidelity object-based data exchange between Building Information Modeling (BIM) software applications. IFC files that conform to the IAI specifications are text files defined with an open ISO-based (http://www.iso.org) standard encoding (ISO-10303-21).

You can use Project Center to search through these files and return text matches, regardless of the version of IFC model on which they are based. You can also filter IFC files in the Project Files activity center by selecting the Published Documents filter. IFC files are currently not rendered in the Newforma Viewer, but there are several free IFC viewers available at http://www.ifcwiki.org/index.php/Free_Software.
