Synchronize Building Elements dialog box

Use this dialog box to synchronize Autodesk Revit object parameters with Project Center building properties via Newforma Project Information Link.

Only building elements in the native file will be synchronized. Linked .RVT files are ignored.

Sync Settings

Click to open the Edit Settings for Building Elements Properties dialog box to map Revit parameters with Newforma properties and configure synchronization.

Select the Properties to Synchronize

This section lists the parameters from Autodesk Revit that are mapped to the building element properties from Project Center. Mark the checkboxes of the items you want to synchronize.

Revit Parameter

This column lists the Revit parameters that are mapped to the building element properties from Project Center.

Mapping Behavior

This column indicates which direction the synchronization will go when you click Synchronize.

Revit -> Newforma indicates that the modified Revit parameter information will be imported into the Newforma property.

Newforma -> Revit indicates that the modified Newforma property information will be exported to the Revit parameter.

None indicates the items will not be imported or exported.

Newforma Property

This column lists the Project Center properties that will be synchronized with the mapped Revit parameters.

Group Name

The name of the group the Newforma property belongs to.

Type

Built-in indicates built-in Newforma properties for building elements from Project Center.

Extended indicates custom properties added for building elements in Project Center.

Select the Items to Synchro

This section lists the building elements to be synchronized. Mark the checkboxes of the items you want to synchronize. Click Add Revit Elements (at the bottom of the dialog box) to populate this list.

To select multiple items at once, use the Shift key to highlight them, then press the space bar to select them.

Show

Click to make Revit zoom in on the selected item (the selected item must be highlighted in the list – it doesn’t matter if it’s checked).

Change Link

Click to open the Set Associated Revit Element dialog box to create a new Revit object for the selected Project Center building element, or link the currently selected Project Center element to the Revit object you select from the list. Only the selected (highlighted) item will be processed.

Sync Action

This column indicates the type of action that will be taken.

If a Revit object and its associated Project Center element are both found, they will be listed as Synchronize under this column.

Elements found in Project Center but not in the Revit model are listed as None – Not linked.

Previously associated objects that were deleted in Revit are listed as Delete Newforma Building Element.

Objects that are in Revit but not in Project Center are listed as Create Newforma Building Element. Only Revit objects with a value in the Number column can be synchronized.

Category

This column indicates the category the Revit parameter belongs to.

Name

This column lists the names of the Revit items.

Number

This column lists the ID numbers of the Revit items.

Level

This column lists the level (First Floor, for example) of the Revit item.

 

Select in Revit

Click to select objects in the Revit model to highlight them in the list of items in this dialog box.

Add Revit Elements

Click to select a group of Revit objects in the active view and add them to the list of items to synchronize (click Finish when you are done selecting objects).  They will be listed with the default action of Create Newforma Building Element.

Synchronize

Click to process all of the selected items. Items created or modified in the Project Center project will be saved to the database. Changes in Revit will be applied to the current session, or you can choose to not save the changes.

 

To access this dialog box

Click Building Elements >  Synchronize Elements from Newforma Project Information Link.
